Tricolore, already for more than 20 years your language consultant!

In 1990 Jean-Pierre Eeftinck Schattenkerk started this consultancy office for language learning abroad. After a career as teacher of French, student counsellor and deputy headmaster at a college in Amsterdam, it was time for a new challenge: Tricolore! During his work in education he already found that the best way to learn a language is to be amongst people who speak the language all the time. He organized adventurous schooljourneys for his students to France and educated French youngsters who had to accompany French children during their school holidays.

Why Tricolore?

20 years ago nothong existed yet in the Netherlands in the field of objective information about French language courses abroad. Jean-Pierre first travelled across France to visit about 50 language schools by himself. The differences between the schools appeared to be enormous, a fascinating challenge to get to know them.

Renée van Rongen formed part of Tricolore from the very beginning. She was a teacher as well, but had a longer career in business. A few years after the founding of Tricolore she starte an investigation on the language courses Spanish in Spain. In those days many new Spanish language schools were created, so it was necessary to follow the market with a critical eye.

Much travelling to France and Spain followed, to visit new schools, to discuss problems, to make friends but above all to discover what would be interesting and important to tell our clients.

After about 14 years it was time to let Italian join Tricolore as a 3d Roman language. But not before they both had studied the language enough to get around. Because understanding a country starts with speaking the language. Then they made some journeys to Italy, form north to south. And across the sea to Sicily, Elba and Sardinia.

Every holiday was spent on discovering and rediscovering regions, cities and Schools in France, Spain and Italy. And that for 20 years.
